Meet Dave

Hi, I’m Dave Bobbitt – the tutor behind Dave Tutors Math. I specialize in helping students understand math in a way that finally makes sense.

My path to tutoring wasn’t traditional, but it’s been incredibly rewarding. After graduating high school at 17, I served in the U.S. Navy, where I worked with cryptological communications equipment and held a top-secret security clearance. That experience taught me how to think logically, work under pressure, and communicate clearly, all skills that carry over directly into how I teach.

When I returned to civilian life, I went back to school and earned a full academic scholarship based on my ACT scores. As a math major, I maintained a 4.0 GPA and served as president of the Student Government Association. During that time, I became the go-to person for help with college algebra. Tutoring started informally – helping friends and classmates – and quickly turned into something more. I discovered that not only could I explain tough concepts in a simple way, but I genuinely enjoyed doing it.

Since 2007, I’ve been tutoring students from all backgrounds, always looking for the clearest, most effective ways to teach. For many students, math can feel overwhelming. I specialize in working with those who are struggling, not just to pass, but to truly understand the material. Whether your student is falling behind, feeling discouraged, or just needs extra support, I meet them where they are and help them move forward with clarity and confidence.

When I’m not helping students improve their math skills, I’m an avid tennis player. I play with friends in local leagues and state tournaments, plus compete in regional tennis events like the Southerns.

I also really enjoy hanging out with my wife, Kim, and taking our dogs to the dog park. It goes without saying that time spent with my sons and grandchildren are some of the most blessed moments in my life.
